Question Answer
Tell us about your sporting background and how you first got into triathlons I started playing all the usual Aussie sports - cricket, footy and then also started to get into athletics. One day, I was having breakfast and noticed on the back of a Weetbix box there was a ‘kids tri’. I never made it to that event, but joined the Nunawading Kids Tri club and did my first race at St Kilda.
Your favourite TRI discipline? Run… ride is a very close second. Running was the first sport I really got into, with Cross Country through school and local clubs.
Goal race for the 2017/18 season? I spent a lot of 2016-2017 quite unwell and couldn’t compete across that season - or do any sports! So this year, my goal has been to get back into Tri’s, begin to rebuild fitness and become competitive again. I’m looking forward to Race 6 at St Kilda!
Future goals? In terms of the future, ever since I first saw triathlons and heard about Kona, it has been a goal.
Favourite holiday destination and why? It is a close tie between Wilson’s Prom (there’s so much to do and it’s so beautiful) and Hawaii (it’s stunning, the beaches are incredible and there’s an iconic tri there!). I might add France to the list, but have never been there, so France is my favourite imaginary destination (because of a certain cycling tour!).
Super power for a day Teleportation or Superspeed - either way, it is all about getting from A to B as quick as possible.
What else keeps me busy outside of tri? Apart from school, I’m a bit of a Cubing fanatic (as in solving Rubik’s Cubes competitively). You can normally hear me coming because you will hear the click click click of spinning cubes. Chess is also becoming a favourite alongside generally engaged in learning new things. My current topics include Artificial Intelligence and Neural-Networking and History (especially around the world wars).
What do you love about being a member of NunaTriClub? I have really appreciated how inclusive and supportive everyone has been. It has been a bit of a long road getting back into triathlons, so it is great to feel the enthusiasm of others around me and to learn so much from the great people here.
