Question Answer
Tell us about your sporting background and how you first got into triathlons In school, it was basketball and cross-country running. For the last 4 years I've been competing in "fun" runs, topping out competing in a few 1/2 marathons. I was up for a change and triathlons would be a great challenge.
Your favourite tri discipline? Is finishing a discipline? When I started, it was the run, but the more session I do, the more I enjoy the swim.
Goal race for the 2016/17 season? Getting through the mini with the other GITs is a good start, but I am aiming to complete a sprint distance by the end of the season.
Favourite holiday destination and why I go to the Bathurst 1000 every two years with mates, that always gives me something to look forward to, but it's hard to go past QLD with the family. The kids are getting old enough now to really enjoy the theme parks.
If you could have a super power for a day what would it be? Telekinesis, I'm a huge Star Wars nerd and that would be the closest to having the Force.
In a snapshot of a few sentences, what else keeps you busy outside of triathlons? Like most, I spend most of my time at work. However, with a young family that takes most of my time (not that I mind). For leisure, it's golf and getting to the cinema when I can.
What do you love about being a member of NunaTriClub? Having only just joined, the support and inclusiveness from the other club members is what struck me most. A real community feel. Even on Sunday when the GIT guys (and girl) had our simulation race, the number of club members that came down to show their support was amazing. I look forward to showing the same support to future GIT classes.
