Welcome to Sean Blackey! @ 24 Jun 2017
At NunaTriClub we have been lucky to have a number of young, energetic and dedicated swim coaches over the years and we've recently joined forces with another up and comer with National level performances who has fresh coach credentials in the swim bag... Sean Blackey is the son of long standing member Colin (Jock) and is already making waves on the pool deck!
Sean has been a competitive swimmer since he was 7 years old, starting in the entry level squad at Nunawading swimming club. Over the years, he's worked his way up from district level swimming to his first Australian age championships in Adelaide last year. Finding himself to be a backstroker, with a personal best of 1.00.9 in the 100m backstroke, and 2.11.4 for the 200m backstroke. Last year Sean made the national final in the 200m backstroke, placing 9th in Australia. He also enjoys distance freestyle in the pool, and the ocean. Sean's longest ocean swim was the 5km race at the Victorian open water championships which I he thoroughly enjoyed. Every year Sean loves to head down to Lorne for the famous pier to pub, which is one of the most popular ocean swims in Victoria.
Recently completing the AUST SWIM - Teacher of swimming and water safety course, Sean will continue working with coaches from NUNA SWIM CLUB and will be looking to complete a 2nd course in the coming weeks to further expand his coaching credentials.
Outside of swimming Sean enjoys relaxing and the outdoors. Some of his hobbies include surfing, fishing and taking Jocks JetSki for a spin.
Currently in Year 11 at Whitefriars College and studying Math Methods, Specialist Maths, Physics, English, Religion and Society and Business Management Unit 3/4, Sean hopes to study Engineering at University and go on to get a job in this field.
Lets welcome Sean to the club, get down to the pool and really enjoy those club swim sessions!
